Week 1

My first week in Washington, DC has been filled with so much excitement. I have met many great individuals and learned so many new things! From Governors to Presidents (AAPD and Bender Consulting), Executive Vice Presidents to Directors, the far-reaching hand of AAPD has indeed brought great opportunity during week 1 of this summer experience. It should also be noted that many of my fellow interns also show great promise and I have no doubt in my mind that a number of them will go on to do great things. Each and every day the room (wherever we were located) was filled with such diversity and freedom of thought; both of which have enriched my life personally. It has been awesome to experience the power of an organization such as AAPD firsthand. Many of us have already begun to take advantage of the networking opportunities that are present. While the orientation made for long days, it is a necessary part of the full experience. The tips and tools put forth in panel discussions and presentations have better prepared all of us for the rigors ahead. I look forward to week 2 and what has yet to come.
